Family Promise is coming to First Presbyterian Church!
Thursday, March 11, 2010

Family Promise of Whitfield County offers homeless families with children the opportunity to achieve housing stability by providing short term shelter, food, case management, and hospitality. Guests use their local Day Center from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. where the director, a professional social worker, provides case management services. The Day Center provides guests with a mailing address and a base for housing and employment searches.

As a host church, one week each quarter, we will provide lodging, food, and hospitality. There are many volunteer opportunities. Most of these only take a few hours of time once or twice a year. Our first host week begins the evening of June 6. There are more than 5,000 congregations nationally involved with Family Promise. First Presbyterian Church has extended its financial support from last year to include hands-on ministry this year. For more information, or to volunteer, please contact Susan Chandler, Family Promise Coordinator for First Presbyterian Church.
